Download Monday: Lock-On Technology goes digital

There's a few good releases hitting the Wii this week, such as Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: JUSTICE FOR ALL and Sonic and Knuckles.


It's the latter that we're more interested in, as it brings it's "Lock-On technology" to the Virtual Console. For those who are maybe a bit too young to remember, Sonic and Knuckles featured a flap on the top of the cartridge, which allowed another cartridge to be slotted in. Plugging in another Sonic title essentially patched the game to include some new artwork and Knuckles as a playable character. This was groundbreaking at the time, and just as neat on the Virtual Console. For anyone who already owns the other Sonic titles on the service, this purchase will allow you to play the "Knuckles" version of those games as well.

    Nintendo Download Monday: Another Retro Remake (UPDATED)

    Any repeat visitor to this site should know by now that we have a real weakness for retro games and remakes of such games. That's why this week's WiiWare title, Blast Master Overdrive is so exciting for us.

    We're all set to relive our 4th and 5th grade memories of this game, and the trailer looks like they really captured the elements of the original that made it such a hit.

    Let's hope that our memories have served us well and that we hold this same opinion by the time we get to actually play this.

    UPDATE: Here's our thoughts on everything else... Tomena Sanner has COMPLETELY stolen the show for us. This is a sidescrolling running game which looks like Canabalt melded with Katamari.. it's THAT crazy. Can't wait to check this one out. A lot more too... list after the break.

    Download Monday: "Uno" how we do it!

    If you've been avoiding Uno on every other gaming platform ever in lieu of the Wii version, you're going to love Nintendo's updates this week. The game is finally available and for only1000 points.

    Well,.. we're back! Did you miss us? No? Did you at least miss the weekly downloadable game updates?

    We hope so, because Nintendo is not resting on their laurels, chugging through the holiday with 7 new downloadable titles.

    We should point out that one of them is a remake of a 1994 live action game from American Lasergames, so really, what more needs to be said? This is a must have for your "so bad it's good" genre collection. Scroll down for the trailer.

    If you're into retro games, this is a very good week for you on Nintendo's download service. The big fish here is undoubtedly Super Smash Bros.(N64, 1000 Points), but we're also getting the arcade version of Ninja Gaiden (600 Points).
